[SOLVED] install Nvidia GeForce GT driver on Ubuntu 64bit Unity
August 4th, 1. Personally, I stopped installing the binary drivers from nVidia’s website years ago – too much maintenance.
I am also getting same problem when install nvidia driver. After which I see a blank screen.

August 5th, 4. It’s showing I’m using the open source driver x. Did you have any luck with this? I only stopped using Nouveau because I was getting GPU lockup freezing when 950 large blocks of text in Libreoffice documents. It worked for me….
Visit the following links: Newer versions of Ubuntu come with newer versions of proprietary video drivers and if those drivers do not support our video card the installer uses the open source video driver. Thanks, everything works fine now.
